This Horrifying Elden Ring Texture Glitch Basically Introduces Crying Angels To The Game

A gamer of Elden Ring has reported being startled by what seem to be animated weeping angel statues caused by a texture problem. FromSoftware’s game is the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to secret details that the Elden Ring community continues to uncover, even though it was launched two years ago.

With the introduction of its DLC, the dark fantasy role-playing game by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin also became a summer challenge for players. Exciting new content, more difficult boss fights, and even a glitch that gave Shadow of the Erdtree players 250k runes filled the popular expansion and thrilled players.

A 12-second video that Valerica-D4C posted to Reddit depicts the player’s protagonist in the base game touring the Shaded Castle while donning a Marais Mask. The user controls their character as they move along a grassy corridor through the ruins, causing a texture glitch to affect the stone sculptures behind them. The player was startled by the phenomena and posted, “Sure gave me a scare,” on the post. Others said the statues looked like crying angels. The glitch gave the impression that the heads of the sculptures were moving.

Glitch in Elden Ring Texture Causes Spooky Crying Angels

Participants in the Elden Ring subreddit shared their theories about what might be causing the bug, which was purportedly a texture-loading problem. After closely examining the images, a perceptive contributor deduced that the crying angels were caused by textures despawning, which means that the more away you are, the lower resolution version of the image appears. Going a step further, a different participant stated that the bug changed to a model with less polygons in order to improve performance. Currently, players can take control of the game’s graphics using the Elden Ring mod, which offers 4500 HD textures and might work as a reasonable workaround for the statue glitch.

The northern region of the Altus Plateau is home to the Shaded Castle. There is an angry Great Enemy Boss residing at the top of the castle, adding to the already unsettling atmosphere created by the stone ruins. Elemer of the Briar’s vicious ranged strikes are 10 times more tough because to the magic-infused red-glowing swords. In addition, the boss comes across as a slasher villain right out of a horror film due to his vicious blood search for bell bearings.

Horror fans in the Soulslike community were also drawn to this rogue texture problem, since FromSoftware’s game has previously been associated with the genre. Its horror game elements are seen in an earlier clip of Elden Ring, and a number of gamers thought the inclusion of crying angels was very scary. The Abyssal Woods DLC region was also brought up in the subreddit comments, since enthusiasts believe this area demonstrates the developer’s ability to create a spine-tingling survival horror game.
