Hollow Knight: Silksong remains a highly anticipated game for a lot of fans, despite the lack of official release information. In 2024, there have been several indications that it would arrive soon, such as a change to the Steam backend and the emergence of its Microsoft Store page, but nothing concrete has materialized. Despite growing frustration with Team Cherry’s lack of communication over the last few years, there is still a lot of hope for Hollow Knight: Silksong’s quality in the end. With the success of the first Hollow Knight, Silksong has gained a lot of credibility.
The much anticipated follow-up is expected to maintain Hollow Knight’s numerous highlights, such as deft platforming, thrilling fighting, and an intriguing and lovely universe to discover. Players assume control of Hornet, the rival of the first game and a princess-protector of Hallownest, as she travels far into Silksong’s new Kingdom of Pharloom. Right now, nobody knows what she’ll find, but given Hollow Knight’s dystopian fantasy setting, it won’t be pretty. Silksong may even surpass its predecessor in this regard, contrasting the more elegant themes of silk and song with terrifying creatures that players aren’t even allowed to battle in Hollow Knight.
Hollow Knight: Silksong May Achieve A Higher Degree of Authority
The inclusion of at least one screen-filling enemy in the trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong indicates that the game is attempting to scale up its boss encounters, but there are other options besides size. Aside from the Radiance and the Nightmare King Grimm, Hollow Knight protects players against the most powerful entities in the universe. These showed up dead with varied degrees of explanation, appeared in mysterious ways, or were indicated to exist in some capacity. But one of the more mysterious ones had a stronger reason than the others not to be fighting.
The true ending of Hollow Knight and the Godmaster endings both feature the Void Entity, a being of pure Void. A Godhome idol calls its original form “Void Given Form,” while its noticeably more horrific DLC version is called “Void Given Focus.” A “Lord of Shades” is also mentioned by an enigmatic, seemingly dead entity in the Abyss, which makes sense given the horde of Shades that exist before it. There isn’t much information available about this creature, but the Godmaster default ending’s depiction of its invasion of reality raises the possibility that it is too strong and unpredictable for mortals to handle.
